OUTREACH & HISTORY

The Jefferson Dancers fill a community need and are dedicated to dance training, community education, and performance while serving as an emblem of Portland's youth. Their performances reach multicultural audiences of all ages. Performances educate the students, community, and the public about the values of striving for excellence in any given field and demonstrate the dancers' hard work, discipline, perseverance, and artistry.

National Tour 2023: Pittsburgh, PA - National High School Dance Festival: Two members won awards in the Outstanding Student Choreography Showcase. Senior John Kearney won the highest honor, first place for Outstanding Student Choreography, for his piece entitled, "You'll Be Happy." Fellow senior Eli Bryan was Honorable Mention and took third place for Outstanding Student Choreography for his piece "Altitude Sickness."

2021-22: Guest artists at the following venues: SOAR Fundraiser - BodyVox, Regional HSDF - Vancouver School of the Arts, Spring Concert - Newmark Theatre, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary, NASA Community performance. 

2019-20: Portland Singing Christmas Tree performances - Keller Auditorium, Chehalem Elementary, Boise-Eliot Elementary, SOAR Fundraiser - BodyVox, MLK Day Tribute - Highland Center, Westside Elementary, Parkdale Elementary, Cambia Black History Month performance, Sexton Elementary, National High School Dance Festival - Byham Theatre.
